The "World Uyghur Congress" headquartered in Germany recently exposed some of the contents of confidential documents that the Chinese authorities have strengthened control over Islam. Among them, it is required to curb and correct the tendency of "de-sinicization" in the field of Islam. The CCP's embassies and consulates abroad actively "educate and guide" religious personnel studying abroad. Some commentators believe that China's suppression of Muslims has extended from the country to overseas.
The “World Uyghur Congress” headquartered in Munich, Germany, announced to the media on June 22 part of the “CPC Central Office (2018) No. 24” document obtained by the organization. This confidential document, entitled "Opinions on Strengthening and Improving Islamic Work in the New Situation", was issued on April 19, requiring the party and government organs of all provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the Central Government, the People’s Liberation Army and various departments of the Central Military Commission to contain and correct The “de-sinicization tendency” in the field of religion, to curb and actively and correctly guide the signs of desertification and Arabization in Islamic venues, clothing, religious etiquette, interpretation of classics, and the use of Arabic, and requires new and expanded Islam The venue highlights the "Chinese style". The “sandification” in the document refers to the basic doctrine dominating in Saudi Arabia, and the “Ahua” refers to the Arabization.
Dilxat Raxit, a spokesman for the World Uyghur Council, told our reporter on June 22 that the Chinese authorities have implemented the sinicization of Islam in order to control and restrict the religious beliefs of Uyghurs.
"This traditional Chinese culture is related to Buddhism and Taoism, while Uyghurs believe in Islam. China requires these mosques to be built and expanded to highlight the'Chinese style', which is incompatible with Islamic culture."
Dirichati pointed out that in order to achieve the political goal of banning the religious beliefs of Uyghurs, the Chinese government used the United Front Work Department and other government agencies to strengthen monitoring of mosques, used extreme methods to confiscate religious objects and books, and interfere with marriage, funeral, and naming ceremonies.
Dirichati said that since the spring of 2017, at least one million Uyghurs have been forcibly detained in the local ‘re-education’ camps established by China without judicial procedures.
“Many of the people who are detained are not known to the outside world. The people who are detained must sing the national anthem and sing "Thank you for China" during the detention. Moreover, those who are detained must accept the lifestyle specified by China. In addition, we have to reflect on ourselves and re-behave during the study during detention. China’s education method is to conduct political brainwashing. The concentration camps where they are detained are provided with non-halal food. We have been obtaining this information. Direct provocation by believers. The detainees must be educated in Chinese atheism and must fill out a letter of guarantee."
Earlier, the websites of many government agencies in China published news about meeting to study "Opinions on Strengthening and Improving Islamic Work in the New Situation." Many local governments, including Suqian City in Jiangsu, Shaoxing City in Zhejiang Province, Yulin City in Shaanxi Province, Jishishan County in Gansu Province, and Tacheng City in Xinjiang, all met in May and June this year to study this confidential document. However, these government websites did not mention the specific content of the documents.
The document exposed by the World Uyghur Commission also requires strict examination of religious professions, and requires Chinese embassies and consulates abroad to "educate and guide" religious personnel studying abroad, prevent religious factors from penetrating the economic field, not engage in Islamic finance, and it is inappropriate to establish a single ethnic Enterprises and entrepreneurs and chambers of commerce with religious names.
Dilixati believes that China's suppression of Muslims has extended from the country to overseas.
"China's restrictions and control on Islam are not only aimed at Uyghurs within its borders, but China has even used the United Front Work Department, Foreign Affairs Department and Security Department to extend the scope of surveillance overseas. Uighurs who study and study religion in the Islamic world, Either they were forcibly repatriated, or they cooperated with the Chinese government. Uyghur students studying in Egypt or the Arabian Peninsula before were forced to repatriate under China’s diplomatic pressure."
Wu Fan, the editor-in-chief of the American Chinese online magazine "China Affairs", believes that China is currently promoting the sinicization of various religions, which is actually suppressing various religions, making them Sinicized and communist.
"Including the suppression of Islam, Tibet's Lamaism, and Catholicism, they are all doing sinicization. They must be transformed into sinicized, sinicized, and communistized, and they are taking this path."
